The tourist information Ruhla is located in an old, beautifully restored half-timbered house on the marketplace of Ruhla. It had passed the certification for tourist information by the German Tourism Association (DTV) and was awarded with the “white i on a red background”, which stands for high quality in information and service. As a contact partner for guests, inhabitants and local service providers, the tourist information Ruhla offers a vast variety of services:

  • Accommodation reservation and booking service
  • Ticket sale for regional events (Ticketshop Thüringen)
  • Hospitality services
  • Sale of souvenirs, hiking maps and regional literature
  • Rental service for hiking backpacks, filled with utensils for exploring nature
  • Rental service for GPS devices
  • A free e-bike charging point
  • Free refill of water bottles (with tap water)

A family friendly and free exhibition takes place in the first floor of the tourist information. Flora, fauna and the geology around Ruhla are some of the topics of the exhibition. Kids can explore the replica of a cave, a rock puzzle, a miniature model of an old grinding mill and many more.

An information pillar is located on the outside of the building, which provides free access to our website 24/7.

Public Restroom

Dear Guests,

There are two public restrooms in Ruhla:

The barrier-free restroom is located on the left side of the parking lot at Carl-Gareis-Straße (Main Road), across the street from the town hall / REWE supermarket. (The key for the accessible toilet is available at tourist information Ruhla.)

The second public restroom is at the second floor of the tourist information Ruhla.

Insider tips:

Discover the Rennsteig trail on foot, bike or ski. Take a break at the stone monument “Gloeckner” to enjoy a wonderful view from the Thuringian Forest to Rhoen Mountains. Sitting in a rural restaurant afterwards, you can treat yourself with delicious Thuringian dishes.

Join our night watchman by an evening walk through the historical Köhlergasse. Listen to the interesting stories he knows about the history and figures of Ruhla.
